The drop down menu (contains & start with) allows for an easier search.

Contains: Search the columns of the database for a word or part of a word. ex: ("parasi" will return entries like parasite, parasitology).

Start with: Search the column of the database starting with a given letter. Ex: ("A") in the Author search would return all the Authors starting with an A.
