The Graham Laboratory at SIO is currently conducting a study of common thresher shark (Alopias vulpinus) movement patterns through the use of archival tags. These tags record depth and temperature data for approximately 40 days after deployment. A great deal of fishing effort goes into tagging these animals – however, the archival tags must be recovered in order to download the data. Therefore, our study is dependent upon tag returns by recreational and commercial fishermen. Tag reward information and directions on returning a recovered thresher shark archival tag.
